About Us

Brief history

In 2001 Sharansthan was born inside a temple premises in the Red light district (Ganga Jamuna) of Nagpur. Later on in 3rd June 2003 our first residential home was established from where we never turned around. Since, then we have gone on to start to shelter homes and one outreach center in Nagpur Red Light District

This is the crucial first step. Children are bound either by physical chains or psychological ones and our rescue agents’ job is to bring the girls out of darkness. We seek to win the child’s trust / Parents trust before making an offer to take them to a safe residential home.

If Rescue is the starter’s gun, then Restoration is the marathon. This is where the long yet joyful healing process begins. Rescued children are taken to safe houses where they sleep safely, receive education, vocational training, counseling and healthcare and most importantly love. The Children pass out from our residential unit after their education, college course or vocational training giving them opportunity to pursue their dreams in the society.

Our field staffs constantly visit the Red Light District and are looking for ladies and children that need our help and protection. We protect the children through our residential care and Day care programs and make sure the women are not exploited in ways that are unknown to them.

It’s often the desperation of poverty that sees children being trafficked into sexual exploitation. Through educating poor communities about trafficking and helping them, we give at-risk communities a hand-up, not a hand out.Education and vocational training empowers the victims and their children to be independent and away from all these atrocities.

When you’re trapped in darkness, no-one can hear you. These children are going through, or have been through, hell on earth, and few seem to be listening. These children don’t have voices of their own so we are shouting for them. We want everyone to know about this evil. We want everyone to do something to help.
